Mama Mac's Tea Scones

2 c. unsifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
1/2 c. raisins (craisins or dried blueberries)
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs beaten
1/4 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients. Cut shortening into dry ingredients until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Add remaining ingredients. Mix with a fork. Divide dough in half. Turn each part out onto a floured board. Do not handle. Flour a rolling pin and roll dough into circles about 1/2" or so thick. Cut in triangles (or with Christmas tree cutter) and put on greased and floured baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (400 F) for 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.

Makes about 16.
